#ThrowBackThursday to my first BMW drive – the E30 325i

#TBT to the first time I ever drove a BMW. It was this red 325i coupe I reviewed for Arab News in 1990. I was smitten.

The silky smooth straight six, the sweet gearshift, the meaty steering, the agile handling, and that hint of rear-drive menace, plus it could do wheelspins. And the car just felt so solid and indestructible.

About seven years later, I got one for myself, and without really intending to, perhaps subconciously, it was pretty much identical – a manual 325i SE Coupe – except that it was in blue. I loved that car!
