Friday Fantasy Car Shopping – here’s my top picks for this week
It’s freezing outside, the worst time to be going out car buying right? Well actually it’s the best time to be getting bargains. But the wonders of the internet mean I’m doing my Friday Fantasy shopping snuggled up in my dressing gown.
And here’s three cars I found that I would be sorely tempted to go out and put hard-earned on.
Now a disclaimer, I have not gone out and examined or even spoken to the sellers of these cars, so if you fancy a bit of this action, all the usual used car buying advice and guidelines apply.
But if you do go for it, let me know how you get on. Also let me have your suggestions too!
2004 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 AWD – £1995 on Autotrader being sold by Highline Cars Ltd
Yes I know these Mondeo-based pretend Jags were never much loved or highly rated. But they still have a classy Jag style about them, this one looks to be stocked with kit, features a luxurious leather interior and with service history. And it’s in lovely British Racing Green, plus it’s a manual. For under 2k it’s tempting. Plus look outside – it’s snowy and icy right? Well this has All-wheel-drive. Link here
2002 Vauxhall VX220 2.2i – £9990 on Ebay being sold by Ribble Valley Sports
The worst car for winter? Which is probably why it’s less than 10k! Okay it’s got 8 previous owners but has a stack of service records. I ran one of these once on a magazine, and it was such a riotously fun car to drive I would take it everywhere even in the rain with the roof down – it was easier to get in and out of with the roof down! 1990 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Police Car – £5495 on Ebay being sold by Autodroma
This HAS to put a smile on your face. As it is, 1980s shape Caprice Classics are becoming cool and are sure to start rising in value, but a black and white with blues and twos on it?! C’mon, what’s not to love here? It’s event got MoT for most of the year. Pretend you’re the star of your own cop show on the way to work as an accountant, be a crowd-pleaser at car shows or rent it out for shotgun weddings. Link here
