Cardiff’s War on Drivers: The Truth Behind the SUV Parking Charge

Cardiff has become the first UK city to charge extra for heavier cars – praised by some as climate progress, but seen by many as yet another salvo in the war on drivers

Cardiff Council has approved a policy that introduces higher parking permit charges for larger and heavier vehicles, starting with those over 2,400kg – and soon expanding to 2,000kg for non-electric cars. The Council claims the aim isn’t to punish, but to “gently encourage behaviour change,” arguing that bigger cars take up more space, cause more road wear, and are a greater danger to pedestrians.

Pain and Glory 2024

Burnouts, Battles, and Resilience – It’s been a tough year

Year-end; time to reflect, react and contemplate. A tough 12 months, that’s for sure. Didn’t go to plan, that too an understatement. But did it beat me? Nearly. Did it scar me? Definitely. Don’t hesitate to hit play on the video below – my words, SUNO’s sounds. It’s something that you might relate to, it’s something that might soothe, maybe even inspire some hope. But as for reading the rest of this, if you share a state of mind as delicate as mine, best to cease now, and click away. Check out my automotive year in review instead, it’s kinda funny. It may amuse and distract. But peruse below only at your peril.

The Cruel Tyranny of the Mind

Despair is more than an absence of hope – it’s a mental labyrinth of self-sabotage and futility. Is there a way out, or are we destined to sink deeper?

Despair and desperation; a beckoning whirlpool void of emptiness that entertains no hope, no redemption, and certainly no mercy. Allow yourself to slide down that funnel and life leaves you even as you go on living a nightmarish nothingness. ‘Who Let The Dogs Out?!’ An Anti-ULEZ Song 😂

‘ULEZ the Truth’s Out’ is a brilliantly hilarious Anti-ULEZ Anti-Sadiq Khan parody song set to the tune of Who Let The Dogs Out!

A multi-talented petrolhead friend of mine back in Dubai is an engineer, businessman, adventurer, photographer, journalist and is actively part of the motorsports scene in the region. It now turns out, he has another astonishing skill – song-writing! From afar, the concerned citizen has been closely following all my ULEZ expansion content, and was inspired enough to pen an anti-ULEZ / anti-Sadiq Khan song written to the tune of the Baha Men song from 2000: ‘Who Let the Dogs Out!’ I suggest you read Tim Ansell’s amazing lyrics, with the song playing – it’s brilliant!

Happy Birthday to my love, my life, my wife!

The passing of a year is like a mere fold in the fabric of eternal love, and yet each stitch in time makes our bonding weave still stronger and sturdier.

The Wife

As we grow older and wiser, we remain the naughty and nervous, fascinated and fervent young souls we always were. That’s how we beat back the clock, that’s how we keep fuelling the spark. You enchant me, you inspire me, you keep me sane, you keep me keen.
