The last time we had a World War – that would be number II – we lost an estimated 80 million people, including around 50 million civilians, most of those on the ‘Good’ side. To put that into perspective the entire population of the country that I live in at the moment, the UAE, is less than 10 million.

Last Call for Car Journos

I read a comment on Facebook somewhere recently: ‘they’re falling like flies’. And I flinched for a moment, because the flies being referred to, was us. But it’s not too late to save our species though.

On a wider scale, we’re seeing the erosion of real quality journalism with unfortunate consequences on real world events that will impact us all sooner or later. But I’ve written about all that elsewhere. Today I want to micro this down to automotive media, and further zero-in on our region.

Write him off if you must, but don’t ignore him

How is it we live in a world where all the political pundits tell us that a man who speaks of a just, fair, peaceful and hopeful future for us and our young has no chance of winning an election, whilst an out-of-touch, flighty, egomaniac focussed solely on strengthening her own power base (like her counterpart across the Atlantic) – to the obvious detriment of what we used to understand democracy to be – is a sure bet?

An old video sure, but please listen to this speech and then ponder that this is not a man that talks about conceited and contrived ‘strong and stable’ politics.
