From Kop Hill to Karachi – BCG Therapy Session Podcast!

A Beetle, a Ferrari & a Car Culture Rebellion – my latest therapy session podcast with Sy and Fiona Easterby

Some people just talk about car culture – we live it. In this week’s BrownCarGuy Therapy Session, I was joined by two proper legends of the community: Syed Ali of Drivers Union, and Fiona Easterby, world traveller, petrolhead and the proud pilot of the now-famous Baja Bug, Pedro.

Together, we took a wild ride across stories, streets and scenes – from the dusty roads of Pakistan to the adrenaline-pumping climb up Kop Hill in a Ferrari 360 Modena, and finally… to the most dangerous motoring frontier of all – the British High Street.

Fiona’s Baja Beetle & the Border Crossings

Fiona isn’t just a car enthusiast – she’s an automotive adventurer. Her humble beige Baja Bug, ‘Pedro,’ has seen more of the world than most of us – including a jaw-dropping journey across Iran, Pakistan, and China. She told us about dealing with border bureaucracy, taking risks driving across a river, and the jaw-dropping beauty of landscapes most overlanders only dream about.

The story isn’t just about travel – it’s about freedomfearlessness, and the kind of adventures that are driven (literally) by a love for motoring.

Sy vs. Kop Hill – Red Ferrari, White Knuckles

Then there’s Sy, aka Batman in a Ferrari. This time, he wasn’t just flexing carbon fibre – he was racing it. Up Kop Hill no less, where his Ferrari 360 Modena gave it the full send. The best part? He had a passenger on board who clearly thought they were signing up for a scenic Sunday cruise… not a shot of pure V8 adrenaline.

We talked hillclimb culture, why Ferrari ownership isn’t just about showing off outside shisha lounges, and how Drivers Union is keeping proper car culture alive in the UK – track days, road trips, charity runs, and everything in between.

Me? I’m Just Trying to Bring Cars Back to the Streets!

And yours truly? I’m waging a one-man war against the demonisation of drivers. I want cars back in town centres, in conversation, in culture. That’s why in this episode you’ll find me – quite literally – directing traffic back to the high street, holding a sign that reads: “FREE PARKING!”

Because this isn’t just about metal, rubber, and petrol – it’s about mobility, expression and identity. We laughed, we ranted, we reminisced – and we made the case for a better, freer, more inclusive car culture.

What Do You Think?

  • Would you road-trip across the globe in a classic Beetle?
  • Have you ever taken part in a hill climb or tried track driving?
  • Do you think cars still belong in our town centres?
