Yesterday I was working with UK’s largest Supercar Club, Drivers Union as a commentator for this amazing supercar demo at Brands Hatch for Festival Italia
Brands Hatch came alive with the sound of Italian horsepower last weekend as Festival Italia 2025 rolled into town – and if you thought this was going to be just another Sunday at the races, think again. The Drivers Union Supercar Club brought the heat with a parade of Italian icons that had the crowd’s necks snapping like they were watching Wimbledon in fast-forward.
I wasn’t just a spectator – I was on the mic, perched trackside, commentating as some of the rarest, most desirable, and downright outrageous machines took to the famous Brands Hatch tarmac. And while the whole line-up was spectacular, there was one pairing that stood out – the ultimate face-off: Ferrari 275 vs Lamborghini Countach.
On one side, the Ferrari 275 GTS – an elegant slice of 1960s motoring perfection. This is the sort of car you’d imagine cruising the Amalfi Coast in, roof down, sunglasses on, and a suitably expensive silk scarf flapping in the breeze. Under the bonnet? A 3.3-litre Colombo V12 delivering smooth, sonorous power in a way only a classic Ferrari can. It’s graceful, it’s timeless – and it’s worth more than the average London townhouse.
Then came the thunder – the Lamborghini Countach QV. Forget subtlety – this is the supercar that defined an era. With its sharp wedge profile, outrageous rear wing, and those famous scissor doors, it still looks like it belongs on a sci-fi movie poster. The QV (Quattrovalvole) packs a 5.2-litre V12 that doesn’t just growl – it howls. Back in the ’80s, it was the dream car on every bedroom wall, and seeing one moving, snarling, and demanding attention in 2025? Pure magic.
It was a study in contrasts – the Ferrari, refined and sophisticated, looking like it had just stepped out of a black-and-white fashion shoot, versus the Countach, loud, brash, and screaming “look at me!” in the brightest possible Italian accent. And the crowd loved every second of it.
From where I stood, mic in hand, I could see the smiles, hear the cheers, and feel that unmistakable energy you only get when great cars, great people, and great passion come together. That’s what Festival Italia is all about – not just celebrating cars, but celebrating the culture, the heritage, and the joy they bring to all of us.
Here’s the rest of the line-up that took part in the demo run:
- Ferrari 308 & Ferrari 328 GTS – timeless ’70s and ’80s mid-engine style
- Ferrari F355 GTS & Ferrari F355 Challenge – the soundtracks of the ’90s
- Ferrari 360 Modena & 360 Challenge Stradale Spider – the aluminium revolution
- Ferrari 458 Spider & Ferrari F430 Spider Manual – open-top, high-revving perfection
- Ferrari 488 Spider – modern turbocharged drop-top performance
- Lamborghini Huracán Performante (x2) – track-focused V10s with active aerodynamics
- Lamborghini Huracán STO – race car for the road
- Lamborghini Huracán Avio – limited-edition fighter jet-inspired Lambo
- De Tomaso Pantera – Italian style, American muscle
- Ferrari F12tdf & Ferrari 812 Competizione – front-engined V12 brutes
