San Francisco’s Twisty Road Replica in Pakistan!

Karachi’s Bahria Town Builds the World’s Most Crooked Street – Move Over, Lombard Street!

If I told you that the world’s most crooked street is no longer in San Francisco, would you believe me? No? Well, buckle up because it’s true, and you won’t believe where it’s now located. Welcome to Bahria Town, Karachi—home to Pakistan’s version of San Francisco’s iconic Lombard Street. But they haven’t just replicated it—they’ve taken the title for the world’s crookedest road with a whopping 12 corners compared to Lombard’s eight!

A New Twisted Wonder

Let’s rewind for a moment. Lombard Street, built in 1922, was designed to make San Francisco’s steep slopes more manageable for drivers. The famous 600-foot road became iconic for its eight hairpin bends and a dizzying 27% grade incline. Over the years, it’s not only become a popular tourist destination but also a star on the silver screen, appearing in legendary films like Vertigo, Bullitt, and The Love Bug.

But now, there’s a new kid on the block—and it’s from a place you’d least expect. Karachi’s Bahria Town, the ultra-modern luxury development just outside Pakistan’s bustling commercial capital, unveiled a brand-new replica of Lombard Street on October 5th, 2024. And guess what? They’ve gone bigger and bolder—stretching it out to 1,000 feet and packing in an impressive 12 sharp corners, making it officially the world’s most crooked street.

What Makes This Street So Special?

So, why is this new twisted street in Karachi causing such a stir? For starters, it’s an almost perfect replica of the original—except they’ve crammed in more corners and stretched the road to be 400 feet longer than Lombard. Measuring 12 feet wide, the street’s winding layout snakes down a steady incline, offering both drivers and tourists a thrilling and scenic experience.

During the grand opening on October 5th, the street was christened with a classic car parade—perfectly fitting for a road that seems built for showing off precision driving and automotive flair. You’ve got to wonder if we’ll be seeing Bahria Town’s version of this winding road pop up in some upcoming films, too!

A Must-Visit Attraction in Bahria Town

For those who fancy testing their driving skills, you can take on the 12 bends for just Rs 500—that’s about £1.30 or $1.60, which is an absolute bargain when you think about the bragging rights that come with driving down the world’s most crooked road. Bahria Town is fast becoming a top tourist spot, with luxury homes, commercial centres, recreational parks, and even what will be the world’s third-largest mosque.

This crooked street adds yet another reason to visit. Whether you’re a die-hard petrolhead or just looking for an unforgettable day out, this is one attraction you won’t want to miss.

The Construction Journey

Now, if you’re wondering how long it took to build such a feat of engineering, the answer is an impressive 7 months! Construction began on February 24th, 2024, and was completed just in time for the October unveiling. Bahria Town’s developers have certainly outdone themselves, meticulously recreating the look and feel of Lombard Street while giving it that extra twist (pun intended!).

It’s the perfect blend of style, engineering, and fun—a true homage to the original, with a bit of Pakistani flair.

Ready to Take It for a Spin?

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to give this road a go on my next trip to Karachi. The real question is—what car should I drive down the world’s most crooked street? Should I go for something small and agile like a classic sports car or maybe something with a bit more muscle, like an American beast? Let me know in the comments what you think, and who knows? You just might see it happen!

Why You Need to Visit Bahria Town

Bahria Town isn’t just about this twisted street. It’s a growing hub of luxury and innovation, offering residents and visitors alike an experience like no other. From sprawling green spaces to top-tier shopping centres, Bahria Town is more than just a housing development—it’s becoming a destination in its own right. Add to that the fact that they’ve now got the world’s most crooked street, and you’ve got a recipe for something truly special.

So, if you’re heading to Karachi anytime soon, make sure to stop by Bahria Town, pay the Rs 500, and take a ride down the most crooked street in the world. Trust me—you won’t regret it!

With Karachi’s new crooked street claiming the title of the world’s most twisted road, the iconic Lombard Street has officially been dethroned. Bahria Town’s bold replica has not only matched the original but added extra twists and an extended length to ensure a thrilling experience for all who visit.
