Are EVs making people evangelical and elitist? Can we have a proper conversation about them?
Why does any discussion involving EVs vs ICE become so polarising? Why are EV Proponents so defensive and why to EV haters believe all the myths? If we don’t all calm down and have a grown-up conversation meeting somewhere in the middle, we won’t be able to move forward with transport solutions for today, tomorrow and beyond – whether they are, or are not, the solutions we expect them to be?

The problem is that certain EV proponents don’t seem to understand that people who drive Internal Combustion engine vehicles do so for a number of reasons; work, social-domestic-pleasure and also classic car collectors (a hobby and pastime with considerable support from specialist individuals and companies). Some EV proponents seem hell-bent on forcing ICE drivers onto EV vehicles which is both contrary to human rights (the right to make an informed choice and decision about choice of and usage of an ICE vehicle commensurate to what one requires the vehicle for) and also failing to take into account that fossil fuels will be around virtually forever, backed up with synthetic fuels (courtesy of the Germans in WW2 via the Luna Verke) and synthetic rubber (again courtesy of the Germans in WW2, this time the I.G.Farben plant at Auschwitz, north of the labour camp), especially as synthetic research was copied by the British, the Americans, the French and any other allied nation worth their scientific salt in their quest for knowledge and using German technology to their own personal national advantage! Think ‘Operation Paperclip’ when the US got as many German scientists, blueprints and equipment as they could and took them to American, V1 Rocket Bombs, V2 Rockets etc. If it wasn’t for ‘Paperclip’ there would not have been a space programme and no-one would have landed on the moon!
I have no problems with people wanting EV’s providing they equally respect my right to have an ICE vehicle. I suggest all read Voltaire on his defending each other’s rights and start from there. ‘Only by learning from the past can you create a better future’.

I would also be very interested in meeting Gary Turner about his innovation too, please, as I am currently endeavouring to obtain from Messrs Ford a replacement electronic 3-way catalyst to bring my ‘X’-Reg. Mondeo 2.0Litre ‘Ghia’ Estate to the necessary Euro spec (although two MOT Emissions Testers have told me my car does not pollute in the slightest and ULEZ is nothing but an illicit sham!). If Gary wants to use my car as a test-bed I am quite happy for that!

Hello Sharzad,
Just to let you know that Gary Turner phoned me following my e-mail to him to offer my trusty Mondeo Estate as a test-bed for LOFRIX.
