Birthdays can be a difficult marker to acknowledge and appreciate in the – shall we say – mature years, and it’s tempting to ignore them altogether and pretend that the still further unrelenting advance in years isn’t happening at all.
However, and this is one of the greatest benefits of social media, to do that would be to be miss out on the avalanche of love, support and greetings from friends, relatives and well-wishers around the world. It’s nourishment for the soul and uplifting for the bruised and battered ego.
I thank you all, beyond words can adequately describe, for the wonderful birthday messages and multitude of lovely posts. I’m totally overwhelmed, humbled and truly touched. You all made my day and this morning I feel revitalised and renewed – like a kid again; counting all his prezzies! And that’s exactly what birthdays should do for us.
