Testarossa Flop, Fake Engine Noise & Knight Rider Fail

In the latest BrownCarGuy Therapy Session I’m joined by Sy of Drivers Union and Darren of Waterlook Classics

Right, listen up fellow petrolheads – it’s time for another full-fat, no-filter, unapologetically passionate episode of BrownCarGuy Therapy – and this week, we didn’t hold back. If you’ve ever shouted at your screen during a car reveal, or muttered “not again” at a reboot announcement, this one’s for you.

Joining me for this session are Darren Sullivan Vince, the man behind Waterloo Classics and the Patina and Bloomsbury Classic Car Shows; and Sy Hussain, founder of Drivers Union, the UK’s top supercar owner’s club. Together, we dive into the absurd, the nostalgic, and the outright infuriating state of modern car culture – all in the name of therapy, of course.

We kick things off with that controversial new Ferrari – yes, the one many are calling a Testarossa in name only. The looks? Hmm. The price? Eye-watering. But does it live up to the legacy? We have opinions.

Then we tear into fake engine noise – yes, again – because no, Darren, you’re not alone. We all miss the days when sound came from actual pistons, not a bloody speaker under the seat.

Also in the firing line this week:

  • The Knight Rider reboot – will it crash and burn like previous attempts? And who could possibly replace The Hoff?
  • Are EV conversions of classic cars happening too soon? Is it still butchery if the tech isn’t mature yet?
  • The real cost of being a petrolhead – we’re talking car show ticket prices, parking in London, and how pricing out the average enthusiast is killing the scene.
  • The generational shift in car culture – do younger drivers really care about new cars? Or are cool old motors becoming the go-to choice for street cred and joy?

We also touch on big events like the Concours of Elegance and Bloomsbury Classic Car Show, shout out to Hampton Court and the amazing 50 Years of Lotus Esprit celebrations, and bid a fond farewell to icons like the Nissan GT-RBoxster/Cayman, and Honda Civic Type R.

Plus: we ask the big question – is this the end of the golden era of cars? Sy reckons it is, and frankly, we’re not sure he’s wrong.

⚡Whether you’re an old-school V8 lover, a classic car cruiser, or just here for the rants – this is the episode you’ll want to play loud. As always, it’s honest, unfiltered, and a bit of a laugh.
