The Not Very Grand Tour Hits Screens This April
Just when you thought The Grand Tour had driven off into the sunset, the legendary trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are back once again! But this time, it’s not very grand, and there may not be much Touring – at least, not according to the title of the new show.
Introducing… The Not Very Grand Tour
Amazon Prime Video has officially confirmed that the new series, The Not Very Grand Tour, will premiere on 18 April 2025. And yes, this is the same Clarkson who previously declared he was done with talking about cars on TV, famously saying:
“I’m too old and fat to get into the cars I like and not interested in driving those I don’t.”
Yet here we are. Either he had a change of heart, or Amazon simply waved a cheque large enough to tempt him back. Either way, motoring fans everywhere should be celebrating.
What’s the Show About?
According to the British Board of Film Classification, The Not Very Grand Tour is described as a “motoring comedy documentary series”, with long-time Top Gear and Grand Tour director Phil Churchward at the helm. That may indicate this won’t just be a nostalgia-fest but will still carry that signature mix of big laughs, car chaos, and globe-trotting antics we’ve come to expect. Or they could just be sitting around chatting about the good times!
One episode is already listed: “The Glory and The Power”, which is said to be a tribute to the combustion engine, featuring footage from past adventures and iconic test drives. Industry details reveal that filming for this episode took place in July 2024, meaning this comeback has been in the works for a while.
Back By Popular Demand… Or One Last Cash Grab?
The question now is: should we be excited or cynical? Wasn’t The Grand Tour supposed to be their grand farewell? Is this a fan-demanded return to form, or are we edging dangerously close to Last of the Summer Wine territory?
One thing’s for sure—whenever these three get together, something will break, someone will crash, and somewhere, an entire country will probably be offended. And let’s be honest, that’s exactly why we’ll be watching.
What’s Next?
For now, we don’t have many more details – no trailer, no full episode list, and no confirmation on how many instalments we can expect. But with less than a month to go, expect more information (and possibly a few explosions) to surface soon.
So, are you excited to see Clarkson, Hammond, and May back behind the wheel? Or do you think they should have left it at The Grand Tour finale? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
