An Iconic Escort, a Cool Capri, and Big Plans!
This year marked a monumental occasion for West London Classics as the club made its debut at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2024. I had the chance to catch up with club founder Kirpal Singh Randhawa and long-time member Dave – two passionate petrolheads who brought with them not only stunning classic cars but also a true enthusiasm for sharing the classic car lifestyle.
In our chat, Kirpal and Dave shared how significant it was for West London Classics to have a presence at the UK’s largest classic car gathering. The buzz around their stand was palpable, with crowds admiring Dave’s meticulously restored Ford Escort and Kirpal’s stunning Ford Capri. Dave’s Escort was a standout, a restoration project that took him a dedicated five years to complete. Every bolt, every detail was painstakingly attended to, bringing the Escort to a level worthy of the NEC’s discerning audience. And judging by the reactions, it was worth every moment.
But it wasn’t just about showcasing beautiful cars – it was also about building connections and expanding the West London Classics community. Kirpal revealed ambitious plans for the club’s future, including the expansion into new regions like Leicester and beyond. This would allow enthusiasts from around the UK to experience the camaraderie, support, and shared passion that have become hallmarks of West London Classics. “We’ve had members travel from all over – Cumbria, Scotland, Birmingham – just to support us here,” said Kirpal.
The NEC Classic Motor Show was more than just an event; it was a celebration of British car culture. The sheer number of visitors, even on the typically quieter Friday, was astonishing. Navigating the crowds was a challenge, but it highlighted just how significant the classic car scene remains in the UK. For Kirpal and Dave, being part of that scene was both exciting and rewarding – a chance to put West London Classics on the map and rally the car-loving community around their shared passion.
Between the meticulous car prep, setting up their stand, and talking with visitors, the event was a whirlwind of activity. Kirpal and Dave admitted it wasn’t easy – three days of early mornings, long nights, and a commitment to making sure everything looked perfect. “We’ve been here since Thursday,” they said, laughing about the effort it took. “It’s hard work, but seeing the reaction makes it all worth it.”

So, what’s next for West London Classics? According to Kirpal, the club has big plans, and they’re already looking forward to future events.
