Did you buy a used car in 2024? If so, you were far from alone! In fact, a staggering 7.6 million second-hand cars changed hands across the UK last year, marking a 5.5% increase over 2023. That’s over 400,000 more transactions—or nearly half a million extra cars moving from one driveway to another.
Right, so you might remember that I made a couple of videos in the last few months about how the next generation, younger people, are not getting into motoring as much as our generation did. And I’ve been quite fair in saying that, considering the cost and everything involved in the process, it does make perfect sense. But hold on, because there’s some new evidence that’s just come to light, thanks to Auto Trader, that might make me rethink that stance. Either I jumped to that conclusion too quickly, or maybe things are changing.
CarGurus reveal the cheapest places in the UK to buy used cars. The differences will stagger you. Some top tips, especially if you’re thinking of changing cars because of ULEZ.

The best place to buy a used car in the UK is Bolton according to car leasing firm, Moneybarn. The study looked at dealer reviews and actual prices to find the best and worst places to buy. Bolton scored 7.5 out of 10, Blackpool was second and Canterbury was third.

18112020 #BCGBulletin – Petrol and Diesel (ICE) new car sales to be banned in Britain from 2030 – today the government has confirmed what the news announced a few days ago when I recorded this video. Hybrid cars will be allowed to continue to 2035, but otherwise manufacturer can only sell electric cars – this is supposed to happen in a mere 9 years.
