#FlashBackFriday to over a decade ago when as Editor of the Middle East edition of Car Magazine, I ran our first ever car awards. Unrelentingly hard work, a weighty responsibility, but extraordinarily satisfying and fun. We did several of these, and I even hosted and presented the last edition which was immensely enjoyable. #ThrowBackThursday to an epic 13-page feature I conceived and executed for Car Middle East magazine in 2006, to mark the 100th birthday of the father of the Mini – Sir Alec Issigonis. Yup – we pulled off The Emirati Job!
The most recent episode I shot for The Autocrats featured a Mercedes G-Wagon, Enoc and Thanos! Can’t believe we crammed so much into 10 minutes. Well done to the production team.

I read a comment on Facebook somewhere recently: ‘they’re falling like flies’. And I flinched for a moment, because the flies being referred to, was us. But it’s not too late to save our species though.
On a wider scale, we’re seeing the erosion of real quality journalism with unfortunate consequences on real world events that will impact us all sooner or later. But I’ve written about all that elsewhere. Today I want to micro this down to automotive media, and further zero-in on our region.

Chevrolet offers a 1hr service, and we managed to get a behind-the-scenes hands-on experience of what actually goes on from the moment you drop off your car, to the moment you pick it up.
