Exclusive Special Podcast with Duncan Buchanan who has done an Impact Assessment on the Scrappage Scheme
In this podcast I discover why ULEZ and the Scrappage Scheme is actually making things worse when it comes to public health and the environment. I chat with Duncan Buchanan, a freight transport specialist who has worked in the freight industry, for Government organisations and for the Road Haulage Association. He has worked across modes, covering road, rail, sea and air freight transport. And he’s done an Impact Assessment on the London ULEZ Scrappage Scheme.
Duncan has extensive policy experience at a senior level, he has developed and assessed policy positions within and outside government. He worked for the UK Government in Europe and on behalf of the freight industry in the UK. Has given evidence to Parliamentary committees and presented widely nationally and internationally on a diverse range of topics including sustainable transport, the impacts of government policy on commercial transport and road user charging.

Clean air in any individual place ia a falacy and utterly impossible to achieve. Air molicules move constantly around the planet. The air we breathe today may have been in an industrial part of France or Poland yesterday and it may be in the Sahara by the end of the week. Its called wind. Anyone claiming that reducing emissions in any single place will have an effect without taking wind and air movement into consideration, and then claiming the air in any place can be maintained as clean and pure is either a total lier or a raving loonatic.

Excellent interview that tells it how it is, Shahzad. I have heard of David Buchanan before and hope you have future interviews with him as politicians and local councils should listen very carefully to what he says in his analysis.
Totally agree with Gary’s comments. Khan and TFL = ‘The Lunatics have taken over the Asylum’ (to quote the title of a song by a certain band).
As always, keep up the excellent work, Shahzad.
Kind regards,
Steve.
