MG ZS EV Review 

updated with longer range and better kit

The latest updated version of affordable family electric SUV, the MG ZS EV went on sale at the end of last year. The previous edition offered exceptional value, but fell a little short in the overall electric-only mileage range at just 160 miles. The new car gets a bigger 73kWh battery and a vastly improved range – claimed to be up to 273miles now.

Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 Twin Pro AWD 

Minimum Fuss Family EV

This is Volvo’s first all-wheel drive fully electric car, the EV version of the Volvo XC40 medium-sized family SUV that’s been around since 2018. The XC40 is available with other powertrains including a mild hybrid and full plug-in hybrid too. This electric XC40 Recharge was introduced in 2020, and while it may have been adapted to run as an electric car, rather than originating as an EV, it is worth mentioning that it shares its platform with Polestar 2 – which was launched as a fully electric car.

2022 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross Review

Is this the pick of the family cars in the Suzuki range?

This is the all-new 2022 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, the third generation of the series, although in reality it’s more of a very extensive update and revision of the second-generation model which first arrived in 2013 and was itself updated in 2016. The first-generation model, more widely known as the SX4 was a compact, family hatchback-on-stilts type of thing. If the second gen was more Crossover, the latest car is again a little closer to being an SUV, and closer then to the Vitara on which it is based.

Range Rover Velar P400e PHEV Review

The plug-in hybrid is actually the sportiest of the Velars

The Range Rover Velar is the best looking of the current range of luxury roving SUVs. The baby Evoque even adopted most of the Velar’s styling cues in its update a couple of years ago, but the Velar still looks fresh and is arguably more futuristic and sleeker than its bigger brothers, though remains as elegant as its elevated siblings.

Mazda CX-30 Review

Utterly contemporary tech, yet old-skool at its core

The Mazda CX-30, introduced last year, slots under the CX-5. So why not call it the CX-4? Because there is already a CX-4 sold in China, which is a different car. And this is based on a the Mazda3 hatchback, although its 7cm shorter and 10cm taller. The same platform is also the basis for the all-new all-electric MX-30.
