‘They’re planning vacations here for goodness sakes!’ the senator furiously stabbed at a printout on the table in front of him, and shouted across the crowded room at the most formidable presence inhabiting it. The leader sat at the head of the conference table and quietly studied the agitated and anxious debate.
‘And there’s one tiny problem with this picture – I don’t see us in it! It’s very clear what that means.’
A day, sometime in the not-too-distant future.
Even though he was completely alone in his apartment, when the man stepped out of the bathroom, he looked left and right down his own corridor. Not satisfied he checked every room, and switched off the lights.
In his bedroom he shut and locked the door, switched off the television and covered it with a black cloth, then he closed his laptop, put his smart phone and tablet in a drawer and closed it. Finally he walked over to the windows and drew the already closed curtains even tighter.

I wrote this around a decade ago, depicting a future in which cars are banned. Reposting, because this piece of fiction, based on how things are going, is probably closer to a real-world prediction!
