We owned a second-generation Honda CR-V for over decade and there must be a very good reason we kept it that long. Although there isn’t any single cause for keeping it that I can recall, potentially it was more a case of… well there was no reason to replace it. This is voodoo. This is jazz. There is magic within this little car

The Honda Jazz loves to riff, innovating with magic seats that mixed ample cargo height into the capacious cabin, through the simple idea of lifting its rear seat base for more room. For the latest fourth generation edition it’s playing a new hybrid tune – the only flavour you can have it in. A 1.5-litre petrol e:HEV which is like a hybrid of hybrids. It features innovation not so simple in concept, but still devilishly clever.

Is this the city-wise electric car we’ve been waiting for?

Honda has previously said that it plans to provide an entirely electrified range in Europe by 2022 – yes that’s next year. By electrified we mean either hybrid or fully electric. However the only fully electric vehicle from the Japanese car manufacture is the little Honda E introduced last year.

In this episode I chat to my good buddy, Neville Darukhanawalla. A self-confessed automotive buff, Neville Jal Darukhanawalla has been associated with cars and bikes since his school days in the late 1980s. A two-time national champion, racing scooters in his native India, he has raced in different forms of motorcycle sport – road racing, motocross, rallies, flat track, trials and what have you. A massive fan of Formula One and MotoGP – in fact, of all forms on motor racing, he believes that racing improves the breed.
