Check out the new updated MG ZS EV and it looks rather neat at the front. They’ve done away with the grille altogether with a concept car style stamped-effect fascia. It gets a new 72kWh battery pack which improves the range from 163 miles to 273 miles – which is impressive. But a 51kWh battery will also be offered with a 198 mile range, which is still better than before.
Checking out the new ‘affordable’ EV concept from Volkswagen
Volkswagen is churning out electric cars right now. And it helps that they have their modular electric drive matrix platform – dubbed MEB, on which they can pretty much put any body. So the latest car they have showcased, which is a concept car for now, is said to indicate what their small and affordable family electric car might be like. This is called the ID. Life. Now when we say affordable, they’re not joking, They’re talking about a 20,000 Euro price – about £17,000.
It’s a big first for Ford in many ways, and a couple of firsts for this V8 Mustang-loving EV sceptic too
There’s a number of firsts here. This is the first mass-market car-maker’s first fully electric vehicle. It’s also the first dedicated electric car from Ford rather than the ‘electric version’ of a regular combustion-engined car. Plus the first electric car to bear the name ‘Mustang’ (though one suspects not the last) and the first time an electric car has adopted the alias and, to some extent, assumed the persona of a muscle car. Which, if you think about it, should essentially be its absolute antithesis, arch-nemesis even!
The MG ZS EV is, as you’ve probably guessed, the fully electric version of the formidably priced, practical and appealing ZS compact family SUV. It’s a little more expensive, whereas the regular ZS starts at just over £15k and tops out at around £20k, this starts at £25k, and the range-topper tested totalled nearly £29k.
Grabbing a quick go in a pair of Mach-E EVs – full review in the next few weeks
Here’s my quick drive first review of the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E in both RWD and AWD extended range guises. I’ll be getting a Mach-E again in a few weeks to do a full review, however at the Ford GoElectric road show, there was a chance to grab the cars for a few short runs, so here are my initial thoughts, findings and impressions on the car. Is this a 21st century Citroen 2CV, is it genius, is it even a car?
The Citroen Ami is like no other car. And that’s partly because it isn’t quite a car. Technically it’s a Quadricycle – a four-wheeled vehicle with limitations on performance (it can’t exceed 28mph) and weight (it must be well under 500kg). In many European countries these can be driven without a driving licence; in France from just 14-years old. In the UK you need a scooter licence at minimum – so you’ve got to have passed your compulsory basic training.
Best of all worlds for the family in a choice of ICE or EV
The all-new Citroen C4 is a little perplexing at first acquaintance. With styling inspired by the classic Citroen GS, it’s a kinda crossover yet is as much a rival for a Toyota Corolla or Ford Focus as it is for C-HR and Kuga. Citroen give you one car where others may offer two – including within its own family group as this shares its platform with the Peugeot 208 and 2008.
Real world test to see what it’s like to take an electric vehicle on a longer drive
Yesterday I had to make a work trip that involved a round-trip of over 220 miles. The car I used was a brand new MG ZS EV electric car press vehicle I’ve got for review (stay tuned for that at the later date) with a stated range of 163 miles. So how was this EV roadtrip?
