Automotive experience company TrackDays.co.uk has put out a list of the top-three most popular cars from 80s TV shows that people choose to drive. This was based on the number of bookings it received to drive its range of TV cars.

It’s pretty staggering, but potentially there are lot more lives that will be saved due to another side-effect of the lockdown. Could they actually outweigh the tragic loss of lives the pandemic is causing? It might need better mathmaticians / statisticians / research analysts than me to figure it out though.

March 28th this year (2020) saw the 10th anniversary of Geely’s acquisition of storied Swedish car maker, Volvo. It bought the brand from Ford in 2010 for $1.8bn. The Chinese firm Geely, which itself was established in 1986 and only got into Automotive towards the end of the last century in 1997, then left Volvo to get on and do what it does best – build amazingly practical, solid and safe automobiles.

Here’s a Vauxhall film made around 20 years ago which shows the breadth of Vauxhall’s heritage and its sporting endeavour. It was resent out today with a press release series remembering the manufacturer’s past iconic cars. Today was the turn of the Vauxhall C-10 ‘Prince Henry’ dubbed ‘The World’s First Sports Car’.

Kia call this car the Soul, and music has always been an integral theme with this model range – even in this latest third generation edition. You can see that from the acoustically-themed stylised interior design elements, and the fact that it’s got a banging 10-speaker Harmon/Kardon sound system. Whilst on the UK launch of the latest version, the most pertinent comment of the day came from my colleague, former-TV motoring journalist, Kevin Haggarthy: “I know why this car doesn’t have any engine noise, it’s so we can hear the music better!”
