When the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was introduced just over a year ago, jaws dropped. This all-new, all-electric crossover referenced Hyundai’s inaugural production car, and indeed South Korea’s first car, the Pony, from 1975. Squint and you’ll recognise the proportions and silhouette, the sharp edges, blunt front and rear ends, and the early hatchback style.

Volkswagen ID.5 GTX Style 4Motion (300bhp) Review – the Performance Family Electric SUV

The Volkswagen ID.5 is the ‘coupe’ version of ID.4, which is a crossover family SUV-style electric vehicle. And by ‘coupe’ we don’t mean it loses the rear doors, but that it gets a more fastback-like sloping rear roof-line. Cynical but enticing marketing terminology aside, there’s no question the ID.5 is the better-looking sibling, and compared to its smaller ID.3, this is the more grown-up proposition.

What’s been happening in the world of cars and peeking into the future!

With the Pandemic seemingly under control, the motor industry was still trying to find its feet again after being virtually shut down for the previous years, but there were more shocks to come. Hopes that severe supply shortages due to a lack of computer chip components, would abate, were quickly dashed when Russia invaded Ukraine and scarcity hit even harder. Aluminium and steel supplies were also reduced.

Going Green in Kia’s Third Best-Selling Car

The Kia XCeed may be part of the Ceed lineup – think of it as the crossover, body-on-stilts version of the Ceed hatchback (though only the front door panels are shared), but it’s actually also the dominant force. It has lead sales not only in the Ceed/XCeed range since it was introduced in 2019, but has surged to take the third best-selling spot in the entire Kia UK portfolio, behind the Sportage and Niro. That’s almost 10% of the company’s sales.
