The Perfect Estate of Affairs – check out my full written and video review
This is the brand new 2023 Suzuki Swace. You’re looking at the pictures on this page and thinking one or both of two things: a) that it looks exactly like the previous Suzuki Swace and/or b) it looks a lot like a Toyota Corolla Estate.
When the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was introduced just over a year ago, jaws dropped. This all-new, all-electric crossover referenced Hyundai’s inaugural production car, and indeed South Korea’s first car, the Pony, from 1975. Squint and you’ll recognise the proportions and silhouette, the sharp edges, blunt front and rear ends, and the early hatchback style.
This is frankly, one of my very favourite electric cars of all
The BMW i4 is essentially the full electric version of the 4 Series. The M50, which I reviewed at Millbrook Proving Ground last year (which is to say I got to drive it hard around the close road circuit), is the top dog. Pretty much the M4 of BMW’s i-series saloons.
This thing makes no sense in the world we live in. So of course I REALLY want one!
Do you need a truck? Probably not. Will you drive off road, actually, the question should be, will you frequently drive like a bat-out-of-hell on rough terrain? Unlikely. Is it smart to have a car that’s nearly two metres longer, and half a metre wider than a typical small city car? Not really. During a cost-of-living crisis should you be contemplating buying a car that costs around £60,000 all-in and manages only 20.5mpg? Does your bank manager come to work sporting a mohawk, nose ring and wearing a mankini? Exactly.
Should you then be lusting after the new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor truck? Oh, hell yeah! Totally. Absolutely. In fact, form an orderly queue of adoring fans that starts just behind me.
Volkswagen ID.5 GTX Style 4Motion (300bhp) Review – the Performance Family Electric SUV
The Volkswagen ID.5 is the ‘coupe’ version of ID.4, which is a crossover family SUV-style electric vehicle. And by ‘coupe’ we don’t mean it loses the rear doors, but that it gets a more fastback-like sloping rear roof-line. Cynical but enticing marketing terminology aside, there’s no question the ID.5 is the better-looking sibling, and compared to its smaller ID.3, this is the more grown-up proposition.
The Alpine A110 sports car was actually introduced in 2017, but harks back even further to the 1963-1977 Alpine A110, described as a Berlinette (the French version of Berlinetta) otherwise described as a small two-door coupe.
I asked ChatGPT to rewrite my review in Shakespeare!
If Shakespeare (Shahzad SheikhSpeare?) – the PlaywrightCarGuy – wrote car reviews, perhaps would they read like this? This is what AI ChatGPT thought when I fed it my existing review – read here – and asked it to rewrite it in a Shakespearean style!
