World’s Fastest Car is an EV – But Driving THIS is More Fun!

China’s Yangwang U9 has smashed the world speed record at 308.4mph, but in a world where fun trumps figures, does speed still matter?

308.4mph. That’s the new production car speed record. A number so big it should make you gasp, applaud, or at least mutter “blimey” into your beer. And yet, here I am, shrugging. Because while the Yangwang U9 Extreme – an all-electric hypercar from China – has just dethroned Bugatti and become the world’s fastest car, I can’t help asking: does anyone really care anymore?

From Kop Hill to Karachi – BCG Therapy Session Podcast!

A Beetle, a Ferrari & a Car Culture Rebellion – my latest therapy session podcast with Sy and Fiona Easterby

Some people just talk about car culture – we live it. In this week’s BrownCarGuy Therapy Session, I was joined by two proper legends of the community: Syed Ali of Drivers Union, and Fiona Easterby, world traveller, petrolhead and the proud pilot of the now-famous Baja Bug, Pedro.

Together, we took a wild ride across stories, streets and scenes – from the dusty roads of Pakistan to the adrenaline-pumping climb up Kop Hill in a Ferrari 360 Modena, and finally… to the most dangerous motoring frontier of all – the British High Street.

Trump at the UN | Leader of ‘Free World’ Shackles it in Fearmongering and Misinformation

Invasion of Illegal Aliens, Shariah Law in London, Climate Change a Hoax – Time to Set the Record Straight

Today, United States President, Donald Trump, stood before the United Nations and gave a speech that can only be described as equal parts dangerous, delusional and daft. He ranted about an “invasion” of illegal migrants in Europe, accused London of wanting to implement Sharia law, and dismissed climate change as a hoax. It was a greatest-hits collection of fear politics, fake news and frikkin lunacy!

Last time he presented to world representatives at this esteemed venue in 2018, listeners sniggered. This time, no one was laughing – apart from when he jokingly complained about the teleprompter not working and being stuck on the escalator (some brave soul in that building was clearly trying to thwart the nonsensification of this noble – if ineffectual – institute).

Reform targets LEGAL MIGRANTS!

Farage and Reform’s Real Agenda Has Been Exposed – A War on Minorities Masquerading as Migration Policy

This is what I was afraid of. And there’s probably worse to come…

Successive UK governments have been utterly incompetent when it comes to dealing with illegal migration. Instead of addressing the real problem with practical, humane, enforceable policies, they’ve allowed the issue to fester until it’s blown up and grabbed headlines at grotesquely disproportionate levels. Worse, it’s been conflated with immigration as a whole. And now the mask has slipped. Nigel Farage and Reform UK are finally showing us their true face – and it’s as ugly as we feared.

Imposter Syndrome in Car Journalism + Why 911s Are Driven by Pricks!

Welcome back to BrownCarGuy Therapy – and this one is going to ruffle a few feathers

Because when you get me, Naveed Hussain (aka Naveed4Speed) and my long-time mate Imthishan Giado (ex-CAR Middle East deputy editor, and my co-founder on Motoring Middle East) together, things get spicy. This episode kicks off with imposter syndrome in car journalism. Do creators feel like frauds? Are influencers wrecking credibility? Or is the whole “journalist vs influencer” debate just another form of automotive gatekeeping? Naveed gets brutally honest about being the outsider, and Imthishan doesn’t hold back on the invisible barriers brown car guys still face in the industry.

Ageing Out or Levelling Up? Why Older Workers Still Matter

Approaching 57, I ask if age really sidelines us – or if experience, insight and resilience make older workers more essential than ever

In just a couple of months, I’ll be 57 years old. And honestly? Some days, I feel it. The knees creak more than they used to, the waistline’s trying to sneak past the speed limit, and let’s not even mention how often I forget what I came into the room for.

Now… where was I? Oh yes… Professionally, too, the landscape has shifted. There’s less work floating around, fewer calls coming in, and a niggling voice that asks: maybe I’ve had my time. Maybe I really am edging towards my sell-by date.

Britain’s New Wave of Racism: Why It Feels Like the 70s Again

From doomscrolling into the late hours to reliving the scars of the 70s, I can’t help but fear that the immigration debate has unleashed a wave of newly emboldened racism

It’s 3 AM and I can’t sleep. I’m doom-scrolling – and I literally mean doom. The algorithm has me in its prickly, unyielding grasp. Not showing me what I love or what inspires me, but what I fear. What I worry about.

Racism. Rage. Riots. Rampage. Right-winged rants.

Testarossa Flop, Fake Engine Noise & Knight Rider Fail

In the latest BrownCarGuy Therapy Session I’m joined by Sy of Drivers Union and Darren of Waterlook Classics

Right, listen up fellow petrolheads – it’s time for another full-fat, no-filter, unapologetically passionate episode of BrownCarGuy Therapy – and this week, we didn’t hold back. If you’ve ever shouted at your screen during a car reveal, or muttered “not again” at a reboot announcement, this one’s for you.

The Cost of War Far Exceeds the Cost of Peace

Why Weapons Drain Trillions While Health, Education & Poverty Solutions Cost a Fraction

Exactly a decade ago, I did the numbers and worked out that the price of peace was far cheaper than the cost of war – does that still hold?

Back in 2015, it frustrated me. War and the meaningless death and destruction. The clash of egos of tiny men with big insecurities, leading to catastrophic consequences – the wiping out of tens of thousands of lives, the demolition of cities and infrastructure, and the absolutely shockingly immense cost of it all.

So, exactly ten years since I first laid out the obscene arithmetic of war versus peace, I’ve decided to take another look.
