Sharper More Planted Muscle car for track day enthusiasts

The original Mustang Mach 1 came out in 1969 as a performance package, with enhanced performance and suspension. That’s pretty much true of today’s version too, which you can identify from the more aggressive front lower end, the driving lamp housings in the grille and the bonnet stripe and highlighting around that and along the side profiles – sadly no shaker scoop – unlike the original.

Mazda launched a sensible, practical and comfortable high-riding family car in the Scottish Highlands some weeks ago. Stop. Just let that sink it. An SUV introduced in an area known for some of the best driving roads in the country – somewhere where typically you might think to launch a sports car as it would really be able to stretch its legs and demonstrate its abilities.

Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 Twin Pro AWD 

Minimum Fuss Family EV

This is Volvo’s first all-wheel drive fully electric car, the EV version of the Volvo XC40 medium-sized family SUV that’s been around since 2018. The XC40 is available with other powertrains including a mild hybrid and full plug-in hybrid too. This electric XC40 Recharge was introduced in 2020, and while it may have been adapted to run as an electric car, rather than originating as an EV, it is worth mentioning that it shares its platform with Polestar 2 – which was launched as a fully electric car.
