Well, it’s looking more and more like Keir Starmer and the Labour Party will be taking the reins come the next election in July 2024. Even the Conservatives seem to have thrown in the towel, practically conceding defeat already. The Tories are doing so poorly that there’s chatter about them not even being the main opposition. Can you imagine? But let’s leave that circus aside and get down to what really matters: what does all this mean for us motorists?

British Elections June 2017

Great to see haughty arrogance and complacency fall flat on its face.

Awesome to see hope and optimism galvanise voting, particularly among the young. No more need for grudging acceptance and stoic cynicism – things can change!

Election results

BTW Labour got 40% of the votes. In the previous election in 2015 it achieved only 30%. You have to go back to 2001 for the last time it got 40% which was when Blair won his second term! In fact Blair won his third term with only 35%. So that puts into perspective Corbyn’s achievement. Credit where credit is due.

When you hold that ballet paper in your hand, stop and think, not about yourself, but about our kids.

We should all vote if we can, but it’s time to stop voting for our own selfish reasons and spurious loyalties, and instead to vote for the benefit of the country, it’s people and particularly, the young people. Because quite simply, our future is invested in them.
