During my recent stint as host of the Tech Hub at the British Motor Show, one of the sessions we ran was ‘Is it the end of ICE?’. Not referring to the frozen crystal cubes dropped into a glass of some liquid refreshment, but the internal combustion engine of course.
On Sunday I was invited by Nissan UK to join them for the very last round of the Formula E season right here in London at the Excel Centre – the track is half indoors and half outside. Unfortunately, it mostly rained. In any case, I took it as an opportunity to find out more about this fascinating race formula and see and hear the race cars in action for myself. It appears that EV sales are rocketing and market share is growing, but the heavy discounting and cutbacks in production tell a different story, one that could scupper the future of EVs and hurt the motor industry itself!

I took a day-trip to Berlin to try out new features including Facial and Fingerprint recognition unlock and starting, Drift Mode and the astonishing Virtual Gearshift now on the latest model GV60s.
Volkswagen is killing the VW Golf (including the GTI), Mercedes-AMG is killing the V8, and enthusiast cars are going electric, they should still be fun, but in the long-term is this bandwagon-jumping going to prove a disaster for the car industry?
