We’ve all heard it. The endless noise from the anti-car crowd. “Ban the car!” “Cars are killing the planet!” “15-minute cities will save us all!” And if you dare to question this gospel, you’re apparently some kind of oil-chugging, soot-snorting Neanderthal standing in the way of human progress.
But let’s pause for a second, take a breath (clean air, of course), and actually examine the case against the car – and then, calmly and rationally, dismantle it like a Haynes manual breakdown. Because the reality is this: the car isn’t the problem. In fact, the car has been one of the greatest enablers of freedom, opportunity, and progress in human history. And it still is.
What a show. So iconic. So enduring. Forty-three years after the show started, it’s still well remembered and much loved today. Even as you read this, I guarantee that distinctive synth theme will have popped into your head, along with a visual of that black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, with that signature red scanner light flashing across the front of the sleek, sexy black sports car. And you can hear the words… “Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist…”
By the faintest light of a dying streetlamp, BCG turned the padlock dials until the combinations clicked into place. The lock snapped open with a metallic crack, and he rolled up the shutter. A wave of stale air drifted from the dark, damp interior. He paused, letting his eyes adjust – until the sharp angle of a raked windscreen and flat bonnet emerged from the gloom.

In 2025, the world of automotive content has become a slick, hyper-polished, monetised machine. The videos. The reels. The “reviews”. The ones where the creator is beaming, the lighting is flawless, and every car is apparently “amazing”. But beware – here’s what you may not know: many of these creators are being told what to say (or not say) and being paid to do so!
£1000s worth of fuel lost?! Or just another slice of summer sensationalism designed to make motorists panic at the pumps? If you’ve seen recent headlines warning that your petrol is quietly evaporating in the sun, you might be wondering whether your fuel tank is basically a barbecue now. Let’s clear the hot air – and talk about what’s really going on in your car when the mercury rises. Because yes, petrol does evaporate. But no, your tank isn’t secretly sipping away your savings. And modern cars are far more clever than the scaremongering tabloids give them credit for.
I cannot emphasise this enough – Honda’s revelation that the Honda Civic Type-R is to be taken off sale is a huge deal! It’s majorly significant. A marker in automotive history. A sad marker. These are the moments in car culture that hit like a sucker punch to the gut. Not because they’re unexpected, but because, deep down, we hoped they’d never come. Unfortunately, it has come. The Honda Civic Type R is dead. And with it, so too dies the last manual Honda you can buy in the UK. Just let that sink in.
If you know Honda, like I know Honda, this is a brand that built its reputation on efficient high-revving engines, razor-sharp handling, and manual gearboxes so sweet they felt like slicing sushi with a samurai’s Tanto dagger.
The new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser J250 has arrived – and if you’re in the UK, this is your Land Cruiser. While much of the world gets the full-sized 300-series Big Daddy Land Cruiser, we get this slightly smaller, slightly leaner sibling, also known globally as the Land Cruiser Prado, or simply the Prado. But don’t dismiss it as the runner-up – because, frankly, by our standards, it really ain’t small, plus this might just be the best-looking Land Cruiser of the modern era.
Stop picking sides, think real hard, and you’ll come to the only truth on the table: we are not being led. We are being dragged, shoved, mocked, manipulated, and sometimes exterminated by a global cabal of narcissists, opportunists, and cosplay emperors.
With the latest spat between Trump and Musk playing out like a cross between WWE and the Jeremy Kyle Show, it’s clearer than ever that modern politics is no longer governance – it’s merely gladiatorial pantomime, broadcast in real time across TikTok and Twitter, where tantrums trend before the tea time news bulletins.
