It’s one of my favourite events of the year, and the Concours of Elegance has firmly established itself as one of the most prestigious motoring events on the global calendar. This year’s edition at Hampton Court Palace was no exception. For three glorious days – Friday through Sunday – the palace grounds were transformed into a celebration of motoring excellence.
Sometimes you just need to talk it out – rant, rave, reminisce, and reflect. That’s what BrownCarGuy Therapy Sessionsare all about: putting the car reviews and news aside, sitting down with fellow enthusiasts, and just having honest conversations about where we’re at as car lovers in a world that’s rapidly changing.
August is always a special month for the global South Asian community. Not only are we marking South Asian Heritage Month – a celebration of Brown culture, history, and achievements – but it’s also when we celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day (14 August) and India’s Independence Day (15 August). And if there’s one thing that unites desis from Karachi to Kolkata, Bradford to Birmingham, and Toronto to Tokyo – it’s cars.
If you’re 70 or over and still enjoying the freedom of the open road, change is coming – and sooner than you might think. The Government has confirmed that this autumn it will launch a public consultation on proposals to overhaul licence renewal rules for older drivers. At the heart of the plan? A new requirement for mandatory eye tests every three years, replacing the current self-declaration system. It’s part of the biggest shake-up in road safety regulations since 2006, and it could mean the difference between keeping your car keys or handing them in.
This is not the best Superman movie. I just wanted to get that out of the way. Superman the Movie (1978) and Superman II (1980) still place first and second on the podium pedestals. However, could the latest James Gunn Superman movie actually take that third position – an unthinkable proposition surely?

There I was, taking a break from b-rolling footage of the car-nucopia that is the Enfield Pageant of Motoring, strolling amongst stalls of tibits, car parts and tempting dinkies, while cradling a hot cup of coffee, when I nearly choked on my cheese toastie! Smack bang between sellers of Capri instrument panels and post-war grille badges, was a bloke with a book. His modest table and roll-up banner advertised a new novel, “It Can’t See You in the Dark” by Feroze Engineer. There was a car on the cover. And not just any car!
Some car events are about shiny bodywork and concours polish. Others are about dyno runs, burnouts and drifting lunacy. And then there’s the Enfield Pageant of Motoring – a gloriously eccentric celebration of British car culture at its most charming, cosmoplitan and utterly captivating.
Yesterday was VE Day. A time for solemn remembrance, for honouring those who fought and fell for our freedoms. A time for reflection. But also – shouldn’t it be a time to stop, think, look at the world around us, and ponder the lessons of the past as crucial to our future survival?

The Brands Hatch GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS – May 2025 – was a proper feast for fans of fast metal, rare classics and raw car culture. I was there all weekend soaking it all in, and I’ve bundled up every last rev, roar, and rear-end slide for your viewing pleasure.
Some invitations you simply can’t ignore. An Aston Martin race car worth £14 million? Hot laps in a Lancia Stratos replica? Castle Combe Circuit on a glorious Thursday? Yes please. This was the exclusive media preview for the 2025 Masters of Motoring, and what a mouth-watering amuse-bouche it turned out to be.
