Suzuki Swift AllGrip Ultra Hybrid Review

Affordable, economical, all-the mod-cons, clutch pedal and manual box, old-school handbrake and all-wheel drive – the last most logical car left on the market?

Some cars are more than the sum of their spec sheets. Some cars are hidden gems. Some cars are unexpected delights. Some cars actually make sense on multiple levels. Some cars are the new, £22k, 2025 Suzuki Swift AllGrip Ultra Hybrid tested here.

If you like eager little hatchbacks that will dart in and out of city gaps, provide usable passenger and boot space, engage you with heel-and-toe downshifts and cheeky handbrake turns, sip fuel while being refined at motorway momentum, and even scrabble over churned-up gravel while wading through rain pools. Then you’ve landed on the right road (off-road) test!

Are YOU Ready to Give Up the Wheel? Driverless Cars Will Hit Our Roads in 2026!

The age of autonomous vehicles is almost here – but are we truly ready to surrender control and let go of the wheel? Here’s what you need to know.

When I started out in this game, being a motoring journalist was always about one thing: driving the cars. The thrill of the exhaust note, the response at the helm, the performance, the grip, the grip of the wheel, the subtle (unspoken) communication between machine and man – that’s where the magic was. That’s what we, as automotive content creators, have always aimed to convey to you – the audience, the readers, the viewers. What makes a car good, unique, special… or even downright dreadful?

But now… it seems that very role (our very reason for existence as petrolheads?) might be under threat.

Is This the End of the Petrol Car?

As EVs surge and petrol bans loom, we ask the big question: is the era of the petrol car spluttering to a halt – or is there still fuel left in the tank?

Somewhere in a windswept field, an abandoned petrol station stands silent. The fuel pumps, once humming with life, now rust under a golden sunset. It’s a haunting image – and perhaps a prophetic one. Because let’s be honest: the petrol car is under siege.

Governments are tightening the noose, manufacturers are switching allegiances, and electric cars are no longer niche science projects – they’re dominating forecourts, ad campaigns, and public policy. But here’s the big question: is the petrol car truly facing extinction? Let’s break it down.

Caught Doing 24 in a 20 Zone?

Welcome to the UK’s New Speed Trap Culture

Is driving at 25mph the new criminal offence? Apparently, yes – if you’re in London, Wales or an increasing number of towns and cities across Britain. In what feels like an ever-tightening noose on British motorists, the humble 20mph speed limit is no longer just for school zones or hospitals – it’s everywhere. In Wales, a blanket 20mph limit was rolled out across most built-up areas in 2023. Meanwhile, London, never one to miss an opportunity for regulation, has been steadily replacing 30 zones with 20s – now covering over half the city’s roads. And guess what? Other councils are falling in line faster than you can say “Notice of Intended Prosecution.”

Don’t Watch the F1 Movie Starring Brad Pitt…

…once. Watch it again and again!

There’s only one reason you shouldn’t watch the new F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. And I’ll tell you that reason at the end of this article. But I have to be honest, I really wasn’t sure about this one. When we first heard whispers of this movie being made my scepticism levels were through the roof. Brad Pitt? In a Formula 1 car? Come on, the bloke’s 60! Surely he’s going to play a team principal, right? Nope – he’s a driver. My eyebrows rose so quickly they nearly overtook Verstappen.

Where Are All the Car Novels?!

The Forgotten Genre for Petrolheads

Some genres race ahead. Others seem stuck in neutral. And when it comes to fictional books about cars and car culture, we’ve got a real case of literary breakdown on our hands. That’s right — despite the car being one of the most important inventions in human history, a global obsession, a symbol of freedom, rebellion, identity and adrenaline… it’s barely visible in the world of fiction.

£110K LOST in 3 Years?!

These Cars Crash HARD in Value – Don’t Buy Them New!

Some cars lose their sparkle. These ones lose your entire life savings. Welcome to the motoring Wall of Shame – the cars that crash in value faster than a supercar hits 60. I break down the 30 worst depreciating cars in the UK right now, based on data from WhatCarAutoExpress, and MotorTrader/Parkers. Whether it’s EVs, luxury barges, or surprisingly costly Corsas, these motors have one thing in common: they make your wallet cry.

Let’s get one thing straight: depreciation isn’t always bad. If you’re buying used, these are potential steals. But if you bought one brand new? Sorry, mate. Wanna hug?

China’s Winning, Maserati’s Dying, and AMG Is Barking Through Its Headlights!

From AMG’s barking EV hyper-sled to the ballistic new Corvette ZR1X, plus Stellantis begging Brussels and Maserati on the chopping block – while China plays chess!

Some car news weeks are quiet. Others are loud. And some? They fake the sound of a V8 through headlights. Welcome to this week’s utterly bonkers motoring headlines – where Mercedes goes sci-fi, Corvette goes ballistic, and Stellantis goes… well, slightly desperate.

It’s all about stories – but will there be a happy ending?
